CHANGES TO RENOVATION, REPAIR AND PAINTING LEAD LAW
SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Lead Program is holding 11 meetings around the state to inform the public about changes in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Renovation, Repair and Painting lead law that went into effect April 22, 2010.

CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is reminding parents and other caregivers of infants to follow safety guidelines when preparing powdered infant feeding formula, including boiling the water used to mix the formula to sterilize it.
SURGICAL INFECTION DATA NOW AVAILABLE ON REPORT CARD
SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Hospital Report Card and Consumer Guide to Health Care website now contains information about the number of surgical infections in Illinois hospitals. The new report shows infections following coronary artery bypass graft and total knee replacement surgeries that occurred in Illinois hospitals between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011.

INCREASE IN PERTUSSIS CASES
CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Public Health is alerting the public to a marked increase of pertussis cases (also known as “Whooping Cough”) due to a series of outbreaks primarily concentrated in Cook County and the counties surrounding Chicago.
