National EMS Week 2014 is May 18-24
Wednesday, May 21 is Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Day.
This year's theme is "EMS: Dedicated. For Life."
EMS Week Certificates
Certificates for years of service in EMS will be available once again in five year increments – five, ten, fifteen, twenty, twenty-five years, etc. All levels of pre-hospital personnel are eligible for certificates – Basic, Intermediate, Paramedic, First Responder, First Responder Defibrillator, Lead Instructor, Emergency Medical Dispatcher, Emergency Communications Registered Nurse, Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse and Trauma Nurse Specialist. The deadline for submission of names to the Department for certificates is Friday April 18, 2014. Please use the “2014 EMS Week Years of Service Certificate Table” for submission of certificate recipients. Prior to submission of the form, please ensure that all names are spelled correctly and that the correct level and the number of years of service are indicated for each entry. Please pay close attention to the instructions when filling out the form. Forms will only be accepted in electronic word format on the prescribed form (no PDFs). No other means of submission will be accepted. Please e-mail completed forms to Paula Atteberry at Paula.Atteberry@illinois.gov. Certificates will be mailed to the EMS System Coordinator for distribution.
EMS Week Awards
Awards for EMS Instructor, Public Education, Response/Professional and Response/Layperson will also be given again this year. If you would like to nominate someone for one of the categories, please use the “EMS Week Award Application” for submission. The deadline for these names to be submitted to the Department is Friday April 4, 2014. Please e-mail completed forms to Paula Atteberry at Paula.Atteberry@illinois.gov.
Individual licensees may utilize this site to pay initial EMS licensing fees, pay EMS renewal licensing fees, update address information, and/or for Ambulance Providers to pay Vehicle Fees.

Under Section 515.530(b) of the Emergency Medical Services and Trauma Center Code [77 Ill. Adm. Code 515.530(b)], Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) candidates have the choice of taking either the State of Illinois examination or the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) examination.
