Current Information

At this time, due to limited amounts of H1N1 vaccine, it has been distributed for vaccination of priority groups (see below). Retail pharmacies have not yet received a supply of H1N1 vaccine.

  • pregnant women
  • household contacts and caregivers for children younger than 6 months of age
  • health care and emergency medical services personnel
  • all people from 6 months through 24 years of age
  • persons aged 25 through 64 years of age who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza.
  

Where to get H1N1 Vaccine

The following are locations in Illinois that will eventually receive H1N1 vaccine and who may obtain H1N1 vaccine at these sites:

  • Local health departments – public
  • Retail pharmacies – public
  • Physician offices – patients of that physician
  • Hospitals – hospital staff and patients
  • Clinics – patients of physicians affiliated with the clinic
  • Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers (FQHCs) – patients of the FQHC
  • Long term care facilities – residents and staff
  • Illinois Department of Corrections facilities – inmates and staff
  • Illinois Department of Human Services facilities – residents and staff

Since the availability and demand of the H1N1 vaccine is unpredictable, frequently check this site, or contact your local health department, retail pharmacy or health care provider to determine when and where the H1N1 vaccine will be available.

Drug manufacturers are under contract with the federal government to produce sufficient quantities of the H1N1 vaccine to meet the need of all who want to be vaccinated, but it is not known how long it will take to produce the necessary vaccine. So far, vaccine has only been shipped to local health departments and hospitals. Below are locations of public H1N1 vaccination sites.
