Catherine Bresler is Associate General Counsel and Government Relations Officer for The Trustmark Companies. Trustmark is a major Illinois domiciled health insurer and benefits administrator licensed nationwide to offer a full line of managed care, medical life, disability, and worksite and administration services, primarily through four independent operating divisions: Starmark, Trustmark Group, Voluntary Benefit Services and CoreSource.

While attending law school, Ms. Bresler worked as a litigation paralegal. After receiving her law license, she practiced as a litigation defense attorney at a Chicago law firm.

Catherine began her career with Trustmark Insurance Company in 1995, as Associate Attorney in the Regulatory and Compliance Unit of the Law Department. Since 1996, Catherine has been responsible for legal analysis and compliance implementation for Federal and state Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) laws, including Privacy and Security. She serves as counsel to Trustmark and its operating divisions on various state, and federal regulatory and legal issues and is responsible for the company’s Government Relations efforts.

Catherine currently serves as Chair of the State Government Relations Committee for America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), the health insurance industry’s national association that represents 1300 member companies, providing benefits to more than 200 million Americans.

Ms. Bresler received her Juris Doctor from the John Marshall Law School (1993). She is a member of the American Bar Association and is admitted to practice in the Northern District of Illinois.
