Dr. Joseph Orthoefer is currently an Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Illinois - College of Medicine at Rockford. He was previously the Public Health Director of the Winnebago County Department of Public Health. In this position, he was responsible for the administration of the Department. He has also served as the Deputy Health Commissioner and the Chief of Environmental Health of the Dayton Division of Health. Dr. Orthoefer has also taught Veterinary Public Health at the University of Minnesota’s School of Public Health and Public Administration.
Dr. Orthoefer is also affiliated with the following voluntary organizations, in many of which he has served in leadership roles: the Rockford Health Council, the Northwest Illinois Area Agency for Aging, the Silver Haired Legislator District 16, the Crusader Central Clinic Board of Directors, the American Public Health Association Board of Governors, the Illinois Board of Health, the Illinois Association of Suicidiology, and the Illinois Family Planning Association.
Dr. Orthoefer resides in Rockford, Illinois.
