 Your Input is Needed on Chronic Diseases

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Task Force is asking for input as it hosts three public hearings across the state. The task force will gather input to help develop recommendations about how health promotion and chronic disease prevention efforts are funded, delivered to communities and address health disparities.

Chronic diseases account for seven in 10 deaths and affect the quality of life of more than half the state’s residents (6.7 million people). Studies have found that Illinois has spent more than $12.5 billion a year in health care dollars to treat chronic diseases, and $43.6 billion in lost work days and lower employee productivity.
