State Public Health Director Recognizes Bonnie Mobley, RN, BSN for Excellence in Pediatric Care  

Ron W. Lee, MD Excellence in Pediatric Care Awards – Clinical Excellence  

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and The Illinois Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) program today honored Bonnie Mobley, RN, BSN with a special pediatric care award for her contributions to childhood care. The Ron W. Lee, M.D. – Excellence in Pediatric Care Awards are given annually by IDPH and EMSC to recognize those dedicated to pediatric emergency care and childhood injury prevention initiatives. Individuals or organizations can be nominated in one of three award categories - Lifetime Achievement, Clinical Excellence and Community Service.

“I am pleased today to present the Ron W. Lee, MD – Excellence in Pediatric Care Award for Clinical Excellence to Bonnie Mobley for her many accomplishments and daily commitment to children and their families,” said Dr. Damon T. Arnold, Illinois Department of Public Health director. “Mobley is a dedicated and highly regarded nurse who is always striving for the very best care for children. She is very deserving of this award, and clearly goes above and beyond. It is obvious that she has devoted herself to caring for and advocating for children.”

Bonnie Mobley, RN, BSN is currently the Manager of the KidSTAR Education Program at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She also maintains instructor status for several programs, including the Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course, the School Nurse Emergency Care Course and the Poison Prevention Center Program. In addition, Mobley co-chairs or coordinates several hospital and department level committees related to pediatric trauma, simulation training, performance improvement, and disaster and injury prevention. Bonnie Mobley is also an active member of both the National and Illinois Emergency Nurses Associations, as well as a member of the Society of Trauma Nurses and the Chicago Trauma Metropolitan Trauma Society.

“Bonnie Mobley’s dedication to the profession of pediatric nursing and care of the pediatric population is evident. She is a true professional in all aspects of providing pediatric care in Illinois, and it is through her constant passion of questioning, researching, and presenting that pediatric care in Illinois is improving,” said Julie D’Agostino, RN, MS.

The Ron W. Lee, M.D. Excellence in Pediatric Care awards are presented each May. Dr. Lee was the director of emergency medicine at Loyola University Medical Center and was instrumental in establishing and fostering the EMSC program in Illinois. He passed away in 1998.

The Illinois EMSC program is a collaborative effort of the Illinois Department of Public Health and Loyola University Medical Center. It was established in 1994 to ensure the emergency medical care needs of children are adequately addressed.
