to the text of laws and administrative rules relevant to IDPH programs. In
parentheses after each law or administrative rule is the citation or location
where the law or rule can be found. Laws are listed in the Illinois Compiled
Statutes (ILCS) by Chapter and Act number. For example: the Department of
Public Health Act is designated as Act 2305 in Chapter 20 of the ILCS and
would be shown as “(20 ILCS 2305).” Rules are organized in the
Illinois Administrative Code (Ill. Adm. Code) by Title and Part number. For
example: the rules outlining IDPH’s organizational structure – the
Public Information, Rulemaking and Organization Code – are located
in Part 1125 of Title 2 of the Illinois Administrative Code and referred to as
“(2 Ill. Adm. Code 1125).” In many instances, only some sections of a
broader law are relevant to a program. Since the links are to an entire Act,
where applicable, section numbers are listed in the link to guide you to the
relevant provisions of the law.
