Prohibits smoking on each campus of a state-supported institution of higher education, including universities and community colleges.

Prevention of Tobacco Use by Persons under 21 Years of Age and Sale and Distribution of Tobacco Products Act, 720 ILCS 675

Prohibits the sale of tobacco products, e-cigarettes, and alternative nicotine products to persons under 21 years of age. Prohibits distributing samples or furnishing the above products to persons under 21 years of age.

Prohibits smoking in a motor vehicle whether it is in motion or at rest, if a person under 18 years of age is in the vehicle, regardless of whether the vehicle's windows are open. Smoking refers to a lighted cigarette, cigar, pipe, weed, plant, regulated narcotic, or other combustible substance.

Preventing Youth Vaping Act, 410 ILCS 86

Prohibits the sale or distribution of any e-cigarette product not intended for sale or distribution in the United States, any e-cigarette product which does not comply with all requirements of federal law, and other provisions. Prohibits companies from marketing e-cigarettes to minors, prohibits misleading e-cigarette advertising, and gives the Office of the Attorney General and law enforcement agencies criminal and civil authority to hold violators accountable.

Tobacco-free Ordinances and Policies in Illinois Municipalities

Tobacco prevention and control policy at the state and municipal level has evolved since the Smoke-Free Illinois Act was enacted in 2008. Illinois municipalities have adopted policies and ordinances that go beyond prohibiting tobacco use in indoor public places, including coverage of parks and recreational areas, and policies that regulate retail tobacco stores at the local level.
